No rest for the wicked - I love this album. I own all of Leatherstrips releases and this still stands out as my favourite. A more emotional, more atmospheric journey than Solitary Confinement but one that completely sucks you right into Claus Larsens world. A must buy for any fan of ebm/industrial - you won t look back.
Leather Legacy - Claus Larsen s Legacy of Hate & Lust album is quite good. I have often seen him as the Trent Reznor of the Euro scene- and with good reason! No only does Larsen s skill in composition run parallel to Reznor s, but Leather Strip manages to capture more of the early underground darkwave vibe (maybe that s because Larsen has been around longer than Reznor). Had Reznor written Down There With You, it would have received ceaseless air time... but as it stands, Leather Strip is destined to be a non-commercial entity. Legacy of Hate & Lust is heavily dependent on synthesizers (more so than NIN)- and that is mainly what the pieces are comprised of. The songs tend to be well written and portray emotion through the use of different sonic soundscapes. Highlight here are the classics Down There With You, I Won t Look Back, and No Rest for the Wicked. Definitely a very good CD that unfortunately falls short of perfection. Fans of Nine Inch Nails and Soul Scythe should give Leather Strip a listen without hesitation...
Not your average gothic/industrial. - Legacy of Hate and Lust is my favorite Leather Strip album so far. The lyrics are intelligent, emotional, and passionately sung. The music alternates between harsher industrial and more harmonic gothic with classical overtones, which makes this album very polyphonic and offers a spiritual as well as emotional odyssey. Most of the tracks are quite dancable, but if you are looking for an album that is only harsh, non-stop, pounding industrial, check out Solitary Confinement , I found both of these albums to complement each other very well.
beautifull, harsh, intimidating, yet calm and submissive - I ve have been listening to LS for the last 6 years,he has always been an inspiration to me in all ways, but this album really made me think, he pulls real deep on this album.it s almost like your there with him and I will always adore him for all of his work and effort making his music almost perfect to my ears...never give up..this album will chatter you from the inside out..enjoy
Larsen s 2nd Best Work - As a huge fan of Leaether Strip, I would have to say that this album, Legacy of Hate and Lust, is sonically brilliant. Showing loss, hurt, and over-all emotional break throughs (and break downs), the lyrics are his most penetrating. Track eight (listed as #9 here), I won t look back is my favorite Strip song to date. It is hard not to imagine the frustration on Claus s face towards the end of this amazing piece. The only other album to make me feel so complete by LS is Anal Cabaret. Both are definately worth picking up, and show his truly awesome talent. Brilliant work, Claus!
